100 Years of style in 100 sec

Great short movie about 100 years of styles in East London. Lovely to see how clothes & dance change together, hand in hand.

Grab yourself a pencil

Sometimes it can be so good to give yourself a moment and just write down the things you love. I did this during my world trip. My notebook was full of things I love and like and it really showed me my passions, who I am and what I want to be. Just grab yourself a pencil and write down everything you can think of, randomly, no structure, give it a try! Yesterday I found this book of Kate Spade and it made me smile because it's the visual version of my notebook.

Give colourfully

Kate Spade and me could have been best friends. Her style, taste, website, products, fashion and tone of voice is so colourful and happy, it makes me smile. You should visit her website or blog. It gives you a boost of a happy feeling.... and if you need some inspiration for Sinterklaas or christmas, maybe this little movie will give you some bright sparkles of ideas!

Letterpress happiness

Studio on fire has created a unique collection of stationery elements to help you keep in touch. Each item, beautifully illustrated by selected designers, is exclusively letterpress printed by hand in their Minneapolis studio. I like the line of Kelly & Kindra. The colours and graphic illustrations are a great. Everybody will jump of happiness when receiving a letter like this in the mailbox.

Ment to be... the triangle and me.

Some times you have an idea, a good one but you're not sure if you're going to do something with it. Can be a product or you want to go on a holiday but doubting about the country or maybe something you want to buy. And then it happens, you see something, or it appears very often, you meet somebody and you know it. Really meant to be! I am pretty sure that it works like that. This week I had this with the triangle. Somehow I see triangles EVERY WHERE. They pop up in magazines, in fashion in living rooms. We fall in love.

{ inspiration found on Etsy & Pinterest... of course}

Camilla Engman

I believe it's a new thing to give more then you expect. I see it more often when I order something on the web... always a lovely surprise. So there it was, together with Uppercase magazine, a booklet made by Camilla Engman. A very talented artist from Gotenburg. She paints, illustrates and much more. And she is owner of Studio Violet.

Let's start with some potatoes

Yesterday my Uppercase magazine arrived, jippie! Like always in Uppercase every single page is full of good ideas and inspiration. Like Geninne Zlatkis, one of the artist who is introduced in nr 11 with a big spread. She makes birds with stamps, ink or water colour paint. Really like her work and I would love to make some stamps myself. Let's start with some potatoes this weekend :-)

Some fabric, paint and a bride

As a textile fanatic I was very happy to see this short movie. The Terbesh people of Kosovo who live in Kubinje have a tradition of dressing and making up a bride for her wedding day. Nusja Jone our bride is the name of the song that accompanies the video documentary.

Birds for in your shoe

I'll keep this short and sweet because it's monday... These hair pins are made by Petra Boase. And I believe it's a perfect little Sinterklaas gift for in your shoe. ( a Dutch tradition during Sinterklaas, before going to bed we put our shoes in front of the chimney, central heater or window and the next day we'll find some candy or a small present!)

Localilo in Amsterdam

It's friday woop woop! Time to make some good plans for the weekend. And as a typical localilo ( my new word for a person who likes and loves the sparkling local life in the city) I will show you every now and then a few local spots in Amsterdam... or in other cities of the world. Just to give some inspiration about how to celebrate a city in the weekend. This time Amsterdam.

* eat: Gartine, a very little lunchroom hidden in a small alley in between Kalverstraat and Spui. Here you can enjoy a perfect breakfast, brunch or high tea. Every thing they serve is grown in their own garden.

* shop: Maison NL, a new concept store on the Utrechtse straat. Here you'll find high fashion, small furniture and special gifts. A guaranteed inspiration boost.

* sleep: The exchange, a hotel with a special love of fashion. Students of the Amsterdam fashion institute dressed the ropms like models on the catwalk. The result: a hotel where architecture meets fashion. ( an initiative of Lloyd hotel.)

* visit: Sunday market, Shop till you drop and don't forget to eat some fresh goodies on this cosy creative market. The market is a platform for designers, artists and creatives. And you van find a lot of nice products like accessories, organic products, kids design and fashion.

Zilalila means: the one becoming the many, and the many returning into the one. Well that is a wonderful meaning of a word don't you think? And this little new sustainable brand makes nice products too. I can see myself drinking a nice cup of tea on a lazy sunday morning or reading a magazine in these beautiful hand knitted pillows of Zilalila. They are made by skilled women of a fair trade production unit in Nepal and are made of soft New Zealand wool. Love it.

{ you can buy Zilalila at Suhka }

Small book of great ideas

" Sometimes people have such good ideas we imagine we could peek into their ears and see a tiny workshop of elves churning out awesome concepts that make the world a better place" { Quote of Frankie magazineOne of my sweet HEMA colleagues is a bit like that. She made this small book of great ideas for me as a goodbye present. Such a great idea and you can make it yourself as well! Grap some pencils, fabric, tape and a pink marker. There you go.
