One for the road

Unfortunately I won't be able to post on my blog that much in the next two weeks, just to let you know :-) So here is one for the road! Found this beautiful world map in NY. Don't know the maker, it was somewhere in Soho... Elisabeth street I believe! Love the different colours of green.  See you in a few days with some Italy inspiration.

PS... They were selling this handmade sweet yellow dog as well. Such a nice present for a little kid, don't you think? Not so difficult to make it yourself...

A perfect day

A scooter, a picnic basket, some sunshine and a wonderful boyfriend... really perfect ingredients for a wonderful day in the countryside of Holland!

Happy hello by Mr Building!

We had a lot of rain this weekend.... bluh. On rainy days the Netherlands can look a little bit sad and grey. Especially when you are biking through a building site... my car is parked nearby. It was a big surprise when I met Mr. Building! He gave me a happy hello! How nice of him!

Nice embroidery

My background is textile design. During my study I learned how to knit, weave, print and to embroider. Loved it! So when I see somebody is doing beautiful things with these kinds of techniques, it makes me smile. Like the work of Evelin. Evelin Kasikov is an artist and designer based in London. During her MA at St. Martins she began to experiment with handmade graphics. By transforming printing processes into hand-embroidery her work is influenced by craft, but still retains the context of graphic design.

CMYK cross-stitch is her best known technique that has been featured in numerous print and online publications.

Paint loves wood

Once in a while you might go to the woods for a nice afternoon walk, somewhere in the world, on a peaceful Sunday. And perhaps during that lovely walk you will find some wooden sticks... That's perfect! Take them to your home and grap some paint. Like Ginette did, how lovely!

Olaf Hajek

La la la la la LOVE LOVE LOVE the illustrations of Olaf Hajek! The flowers, the colours and the way of painting/drawing is so pretty! 'Olaf Hajek is one of Germany's most renowned illustrators and has developed his critically acclaimed personal style through countless works. Hajek decomposes the borders between authenticity and thought, South American folklore, mythology, religion, history and geography.'

On my wishlist: "Flowerhead" published by Gestalten Publishers and Black Antoinette...
